"Violet Waves Upon A Violent Shore I" is the first in a limited edition 3 part series featuring "Gossypium Sturtianum". Also known as "Sturt's Desert Rose" or "Darling River Rose", this native Australian species is also the floral emblem of Northern Territory, Australia. First collected by Captain Charles Sturt in the beds of the creeks on the Barrier Range during his journey to Central Australia in 1844-45, this drought-tolerant shrub occurs naturally in the southern part of the Northern Territory, north-eastern South Australia, western Queensland, western New South Wales and in parts of northern Western Australia.
Captured from the dark ethereal perspective of fine art photographer, Magdalene Marx, this photo is a real-world shot of a uniquely Australian plantae as found within its natural habitat.

Every fine art print is printed on carefully selected heavy 100% cotton rag fibre paper. Photo rag is the ultimate Bugatti of the paper world. Weighing 310gms weight and 479um thick, this Museum Grade Archival Paper is luxuriously heavy with a soft textured matte finish and is lignin and acid-free. The result is a high paper shade stability that has the highest resistance to ageing and meets the requirements of ISO 9706.
Each photograph is printed using fine art giclée printing. The premium pigment based ink is selected for its special attention to longevity and archival high grade ink set. No artificial brighteners or optical brightening agents are used to ensure consistency of shades for generations and are certified acid-free to avoid paper degradation. This makes it extremely resistant to ageing, fading or yellowing by over 100 years. The images are crystal clear giclée prints produced by Canson who have an impeccable reputation and are used by galleries and museums worldwide.
Every image features a unique 50mm white deckled torn edge border to "frame" the prints. The rough yet neat tear along the edges adds a beautiful ethereal quality to the image. It perfectly finishes that thick, textured quality that we love about art paper.
The final result is a soft but extra-dimensional look filled with beautifully saturated colours and rich textures that adds to the sense of depth and tenderness I strive for.
My wish is for viewers to share in the sentiment of my feeling when I was photographing the subject through my lens at the moment of capture.
Every print is embossed in the corner with the artist's mark to preserve the authenticity of the print. It is hand-signed and dated behind the embossing for added legitimacy.
Each print is individually and thoughtfully presented in heavy linen-textured matte black folder. The photo rests securely inside 4 corner mounting squares that are archive safe, acid and lignin-free ensuring that they will never discolour or affect your photo. They also make it very easy for you to remove your prints from the folder. Just gently slide it out of the corners when you are ready and they are ready to be framed immediately.
CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY
Every print is accompanied by an official Certificate of Authenticity ensuring your investment into your fine art purchase is secure, legitimate and ready for your asset register.
The Certificate of Authenticity is individually signed and numbered with the unique edition number. It is recorded within an Asset Register identifying the date of purchase, value, and the name of the person who purchased it along with details of the print such as the size, paper, print, ink and printer.
The Certificate itself is printed by a genuine heavy letterpress on thick luxurious handmade wheat cards with a deckled edge.
NOTE: If you are intending to gift the print, the Certificate of Authenticity does not contain the print value and the Bill of Sale is not given to the gift recipient. Instead, the Bill of Sale is emailed to you for record-keeping. If you would like the Bill of Sale to be sent to the gift recipient, please advise in the "Special Instructions" section when placing your order.
Every print sits individually in an elegant black folder with the Certificate of Authenticity on the cover. The folder alone with the contents is then wrapped in several layers of soft matte acid-free black wrapping tissue and secured with a black embossed "M" round sticker on the top of it. The tissue-wrapped package is then wrapped in black Organza. The package is then sealed in a waterproof plastic bag before going into a heavy duty envelope with "DO NOT BEND" stickers.
